Meaning - hem or "to hem in"
A seaport town on the northern point of the Bay of Acre. Haifa lies to the
south. The bay furnishes the best anchorage on this part of the Mediterranean
coast except that of George, at Beirut, and Alexandretta at the extreme north.
The only reference to Acco in the Old Testament is in Judges 1:31. It is assigned to Asher, but they were never able to take it Jos 19:24 - 31
