Eshtaol

Meaning - to ask

A city west of Jerusalem. It was included in the territory of both Judah and Dan. It is associated with Zorah, to the south. The Spirit of the Lord first came upon Samson, between Eshtaol and Zorah (Judges 13:25) and he was later buried there in the tomb of his father (Judges 16:31).

Eshtaol is identified with Khirbet Deir Shubeib.
