From the Red Sea to Marah

genesisfiles.com

After crossing the Red Sea they went 3 days journey and came to Marah, a place with bitter waters. Therefore, I assume it to be 24 to 36 miles out. Although the place could have been Little Bitter Lake, it appears to be too close for three days journey. An alternative theory is there are several lake beds or wadis in that area that show up in satellite imagery.

There are locations about 25 miles to the south that are good candidates. The imagery suggests that these places could collect water and may have once been small lakes. It is interesting that the description given in the Bible says it contained bitter water which could be a description of salt water. It is possible that due to declining sea level, these lakes may have had salt deposits from previously being part of the Red Sea. Satellite Photo

This color infrared image shows the Suez Canal (North is up). There are several wadis that could have been ancient lake beds. Possibly, one of these (refer to red box)could have been the Marah that Mosses through the tree into.
