Into the Sea

genesisfiles.com

Great Bitter Lake is shown below. This is the most logical place where the Israelites would have crossed the sea. It is over 12 miles long and over 6 miles wide. The 6 mile width works out to give the Israelites enough time to cross before they could be overtaken by Pharaoh's army (leaving the Israelites on the land and Pharaoh's army in the middle of the lake).

Notice the anomaly of dark lines on the ground to the left near the middle of the lake. This feature is actually an airport and the black lines are its runways. The north/south runway is about 1.7 miles long. If you look closely in the lake, you will see some white streaks in the water. This is caused by ships traveling through the Suez Canal. There are several small islands in the lake too.

Legends say this lake may have once been connected to the Red Sea. Some scholars try to find a naturalistic reason for how the sea was parted. Some believe that this was done by a low tide phenomena. But this theory is difficult to accept because the Scriptures state that there was a "wall of water on the left and right sides of the Israelites" (Ex 14:22).
